D.I.Y. Love Monday's!

This week I will be hosting a cupcake party. I wanted to do some decorating and came up with this cupcake themed centerpiece. It took me literally 20 minutes to make and I loved how they turned out! The large ball cost me about $7.00 and the smaller one around $4.00. Great for any kind of party, event, and would be cute centerpieces for the candy table/dessert table at a wedding! I went to the Cake Stuff store located at Central and Tyler here in Wichita and was so excited by the large selection of colors and designs in the paper baking cups section.

Cupcake paper balls

Things you will need:
8 in Styrofoam ball
6 in Styrofoam ball
75-100 large paper baking cups
75-100 Small paper baking cups
Corsage pins (I used ones with a pearl on the end)

Start by placing a small cup in the large cup and pin to the top of the ball. I made a circle all the way around the middle of the ball and then filled in around. I left a place on the bottom empty in order to place on the vase. Repeat till the balls are each covered.

Meagan and Ryan's Balloon Launch

As I stated in an earlier post, the balloon release at Meagan and Ryan's wedding was truly "the icing on the cake"! It turned out amazing and truly represented the personalities of the couple. Feel blessed to have been a part of this special day!

D.I.Y. Love Monday's!

Monday, Monday! D.I.Y. Love Monday's!

Every week I get excited to share the new project because of all the possibilities that they can be used for. I found this project on the WedShare website and fell in love right away. Today's project is equally unique and special, but might require a little more patience. I think they would work as place card settings, decor for centerpieces, napkin ring, or a little something cute on the plate of each guest, greeting/thank you cards, etc.....

                                          Paper Roses

Things you will need:
Your choice of paper
template for 6 petal flower
pencil
scewer
hole punch
scissors
hot glue gun
bead

Use to template to trace the flower onto the paper. Cut out three flowers. Place a hole punch in the center of each flower. Take the first flower and cut one slit to the center of the flower. Put aside. Take the second flower and cut one of the petals off and set aside. Take the third flower and cut two petals off. (keep the two petals in one piece). Curl the tops of the petals with the scewer. Place a dot of hot glue in the center of the first flower, place second flower on top. Place another dot of hot glue int he center of the second flower and place the smallest, third flower on top. Take the two petals that you cut previously and after placing a dot of hot glue in the center of the third flower set the two petal piece on top. Take the final petal and cut the bottom since it may stand taller. Place a dot of glue in the center of the bloom once again and put the petal on top. I used a bead for the center of the flower, but you can get creative and use whatever you have laying around, etc. I did it in about 7 minutes.

A template similiar to this one
You can google 6 petal flower template and you will
be able to find something you like

Meagan and Ryan's Wedding

This past weekend I was excited to be a part of Ryan and Meagan's special day! One of the most unique and memorable parts of their wedding; a balloon release, not only thrilled the guests but made a lasting memory for sure. I loved it, the guests loved it....it was perfect. When Ryan and Meagan were ready to leave the church, their guests had formed two lines with orange and grey balloons in hand, As the couple made their way through the lines of guests to their waiting limo, the balloons were released and carried up, up and away! Needless to say, it looked so incredible. Pictures from the release will be posted soon!

D.I.Y. Love Monday's!

Not only is it D.I.Y Monday again, but today is the first of August! I chose Monday's for this portion of the Events By Ashley blog mostly because it is the day of the week that most dread, so I wanted to give people something to get excited about!

Today's D.I.Y project is pretty simple, but I thought it was super cute and creative. Most of us have gone to the hardware store to look for paint samples and come home with a bunch of sample cards that end up laying around, or taped to the wall for a while till we decide what color we like best! I am guilty of this....so I decided to use the fun paint samples I collected and complete this fun little bookmark!

Paint sample card bookmarks

So....I love this idea because again, it can be used as a wedding/event favor or simple thank you gift! So choose your color palette that goes along with your wedding/event and then get to work! You can stamp them, draw your own design, even put your wedding logo or monogram on them to give it more of a personal flare. Super cute, unique and personal.

Things you will need:

Paint sample cards
hole punch
brads (silver hole cover as shown in picture)
ribbon

Your choice of either/or:
stamps, pens, markers, any material you can think of to use for your special design!

Please post pictures if you choose to do this fun little project. I would love to see what you come up with!
